The second issue of the PhD By Design Instant Journal brings together reflections, provocations and thoughts elicited from the PhD by Design two day conference held at Goldsmiths in November 2015. The conference was interested in exploring how practice-based design PhD students research across difference. Sixty participants have contributed to this second issue which was initiated from a 5 minute presentation of one instance of researching across difference in their work. These presentations, and the practices at their core, where the basis for our collective exploration.
The journal has been produced on November the 5th 2015 as an experiment in how knowledge generated through an event can be disseminated instantly - in a form that allows for unpolished and fresh thoughts to be circulated. Pages from this Journal are going to be circulated through the PhD By Design tumblr to continue some of the conversations from the day.
The Journals pages consist of each participants biography, their research topic and a question that they were looking to explore on the day. This is followed by a page where they had one hour at the end of the day to document a response to this original question. This was both an interesting and exciting process, depicted below.
Displayed above is the second, more polished version of this Issue. You can read the first version that was created on the day here.
